Meet the family

Hi, we’re Tiaki and Elliot.

The young local family behind CoasTrade, raising two boys on the Coast we grew up on.

We started CoasTrade after trying to get some basic work done on our own home, and hitting the same wall as everyone we knew: tradies who didn’t turn up, didn’t call back, and left work you wouldn’t be proud of. We’d come from careers where doing things properly wasn’t optional, and we just knew the trade and service industry could be so much better. So we built the fencing business we wished we could have hired. One that actually communicates, turns up when it says it will, and does work that’s straight, solid and worth the money.

Elliot’s the one on the tools. He came up through apprenticeships in building, construction and oil and gas, moved into project management and quality assurance, and has the certs and licences in carpentry and metal fabrication to back more than 20 years at it, plus a real thing for straight lines and turning a tired old yard into something you’re proud to pull up to. Tiaki (Judy when you call) came from allied health and now runs everything off the tools: the quotes, the bookings, the phone, and is mum to our two boys the rest of the time. When you ring CoasTrade, you’re talking to us, not a call centre.

Tiaki grew up in Caloundra, Elliot’s been in Buddina since primary school, and now we’re raising our two boys, four and six, in the same coastal community we love. We’ve watched the Coast grow up fast, and we’re proud to still be here doing good work for our neighbours. We’re skilled, we’re qualified, and we genuinely love people. That’s the whole idea behind CoasTrade.

Cheers, Tiaki & Elliot CoasTrade Fencing · Sunshine Coast & Moreton Bay

How we work

Simple, start to finish.

From your first call to a finished fence, here’s exactly how it works.

  1. 1

    Request your quote

Book a quote online or give us a call. We’ll schedule it and send an instant booking confirmation by SMS. On the day, your tradesman texts you an ETA so you know exactly when they’re on the way.

  2. 2

    Get your quote

Your fixed quote lands by email and SMS. Our team is on hand by phone and email to talk through anything you’re unsure about.

  3. 3

    Accept and book in

Happy to go ahead? We’ll issue a deposit invoice, and once it’s processed you’ll get a booking date and a crew leader to liaise with through the whole project.

  4. 4

    We build it

Our CoasTrade crew arrives in the morning and gets stuck in with professional care. When it’s done, your final invoice is issued and the job’s marked complete, and if you ever have a question down the track, we’re still here.

Where we work

That’s our patch. Born and based here, we know the soil, the slopes and the council rules from the bayside up the coast and into the hinterland, so if you’re anywhere in between, we’re your local.

Good questions

Before you ask.

The stuff people usually want to know. Can’t see your question? Give us a call, we’re happy to help.

What does a new fence cost on the Sunshine Coast?

The answer varies a lot, depending on things like site access, obstructions along the fence line, retaining walls, sloping ground, landscaping, concrete where it shouldn't be, garden beds, and the list goes on. That's why it's important to schedule a site inspection, so we can confirm your quoted price matches the scope before your project commences.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. CoasTrade holds QBCC licence 15544859, with licence classes for structural and non-structural metal and carpentry, so we're fully licensed to install every fence type we offer. We're fully insured too, which means comprehensive protection for both our company and your property. Worth knowing: in Queensland it's illegal to install a fence worth $3,300 or more (including materials) without a QBCC licence, and doing so can lead to hefty fines plus problems with insurance and warranty down the track.

Do you remove the old fence?

Yes, we can, and we prefer to. Our fee includes full demolition and disposal, ready for your new fence to go in. If you'd rather remove the old fence yourself, we just ask that the concrete footings are dug out too, so we're not held up on install day.

Who pays for a boundary fence?

In Queensland, a shared boundary (dividing) fence is generally split 50/50 between you and your neighbour. Under the Neighbourhood Disputes (Dividing Fences and Trees) Act, both owners contribute equally to a 'sufficient' dividing fence, and if you want something taller or fancier than that, you usually cover the extra. The easiest first step is a friendly chat with your neighbour, then a written notice setting out the plan and cost. You can read the official rules on the Queensland Government fencing page, and we're happy to give you a written quote to share with your neighbour.

Elliot was the front man for a company that I found to be responsive and ably supported by an efficient admin department that ultimately delivered on time, at a competitive price, to a high standard. I would recommend CoasTrade for any residential Colorbond fencing you may be considering.

Elliot and Dave did a great job of erecting my Colorbond fence. At the time of the quote Elliot listened to my concerns. They worked very hard and were obviously practised in putting the fence up very quickly. I have no reservations in recommending CoasTrade.

CoasTrade have been amazing from start to finish! Fantastic customer service from Jude, so professional and kind, explaining everything every step of the way. Big shout out to Dave and Elliot who installed the fence and cleaned up so well afterwards. Two great, hardworking and polite tradies who are a credit to CoasTrade.

I can highly recommend CoasTrade. Used this company for a fence replacement recently, and the whole process was smooth and easy. Quick returns on quotes, far more reasonably priced than other quotes I received. Staff were friendly, professional and reliable. I would not hesitate to use again.
